About
Kate Ginn grew up in the Pacific Northwest and earned her BA in Human Development from Boston College, followed by a Master’s in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. Since 2021, she has served as Deputy Director of a local nonprofit, where she supports a dedicated team committed to advancing community-based initiatives that support children and families. In a prior role, Kate facilitated a community co-design process in Pierce County to improve resources for parents of infants and toddlers. Driven by a deep passion for supporting caregivers, she has also worked as a social worker and program designer in child welfare, including piloting a mentoring program for youth transitioning out of foster care in Chicago.
Beyond her professional roles, Kate has been an advocate for family-friendly policies in both state and local government, contributing to the development of Washington state’s paid leave policy. She currently serves on the Pierce County Birth to 25 Advisory Board as the District 4 representative, and the City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting Advisory Committee. These experiences have contributed to Kate’s drive to ensure that the system of support, including government, works better for both organizations and the people it aims to serve. She is dedicated to ensuring that programs and policies are developed by the people most impacted by them, and is eager to bring this focus on local voice to Pierce County’s Charter Review Commission. Kate lives in Hilltop with her husband and their two young children, ages 3 and 5.
